Focus ring

Nice and smooth

The front of the lens does not move or rotate when focusing


Auto-Focus

Very fast

Soft whirring if you listen closeby / silent


Sharpness

Full frame

70mm - center is sharp, corners are not sharp.

Can be sharper with a higher aperture (f/5.6)

200mm - Generally sharp all around

300mm - center is sharp, corners are not so hazy.

Can be sharper with a higher aperture (f/8)

APS-C

+1 stop of aperture for sharper photos


Distortions

Full frame

Concave and convex effect Visible at 70mm and 300mm

Looks fine at 100mm


Vignetting

Full frame

Visible at f/5.6

Not visible at f/8

APS-C

Not a problem


Chromatic aberration

Not very visible at 200mm


Stabilization

Good


Zoom ring

Not as smooth

Looks nice and soft

Canon extenders cannot be used with this lens as the glass element is almost flushed onto the rear lens mount. It will show an error.
